A number of events starting on Friday are to take place to mark the 60th anniversary of Kilmurry Museum, near Macroom, Co Cork.

They are being organised by the Kilmurry Historical and Archaeological Association (KHAA) and will begin with a special Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 7.30pm.

This will be followed by the official opening of the 60th anniversary exhibition.

It will trace the journey of the museum from 1964 to the present day and pay tribute to the dedicated individuals whose vision and commitment made it possible.

Light refreshments will be served in the museum afterwards.

On Saturday at 3pm, a guided walking tour of the village will depart from the museum, highlighting sites of historical importance.

KHAA spokesman Noel Howard said the day will conclude with a social gathering in Seano’s Bar, celebrating the shared heritage and the achievements of the local community.
