Man arrested in connection with assault of pensioner in Tipperary town

Gardaí have preserved the scene for a technical examination and say investigations are ongoing.
A man has been arrested after another man in his 80s was left in critical condition following a serious assault in Tipperary town on Friday night.
The incident occurred at around 9.35pm on St Michael’s Avenue.
The victim, aged in his 80s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he remains in a critical condition.
A man, aged in his 30s has been arrested in relation to this incident and is currently detained under provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in Co. Tipperary.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
In particular, they are asking people who were in the St Michael’s Avenue area between 7pm and 10pm and who may have video footage, including dash-cam recordings, to contact them.
