The local coroner has been notified, and an autopsy examination is to be arranged for the deceased.

A man in his 70s has died in a house fire in Co Clare.

Emergency services personnel, units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service, and gardaí attended the scene of the blaze, which broke out at a residence in Moymore shortly before 3.30am on Wednesday.

After the fire was brought under control by fire crews, a man, aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body is expected to be removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick shortly.

The local coroner has been notified, and an autopsy examination is to be arranged for the deceased.

The scene at Moymore is currently preserved in advance of a technical examination later on Wednesday.
