A new garda hub could be opened in the heart of Cork City, it has emerged, as councillors clashed over claims that parts of the city have become dangerous no-go areas.

City officials plan to engage with An Garda Síochána to assess the feasibility of converting a vacant council-owned kiosk on Grand Parade for use as a dedicated city-centre garda base.
