The former Good Shepherd Convent site on the north side of Cork City caught fire late on Wednesday.

Shortly before midnight, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the blaze at a derelict building on Convent Avenue in Sunday's Well.

Seven units from Cork City Fire Brigade attended the fire, with the crews remaining at the scene through Thursday morning.

Gardaí said that, as of Thursday morning, there were no reports of any injuries.

Local diversions are in place at the junctions of Convent Avenue with Sunday's Well Road and Strawberry Hill.

The site has been unoccupied for years.

Developers Moneda secured planning permission through An Bord Pleanála in September 2018 for the site, with a proposal to build 234 apartments there.

However, there have been multiple fires at the location since.
