Man, 60s, dies following crash involving car and motorcycle at Cork-Waterford border

A man in his 60s has died in a collision on the Cork-Waterford border.

The man was fatally injured when his motorcycle and a car collided on the R634 at Ballydasoon near Youghal shortly before 2pm.

Gardaí have closed off the road and are appealing for witnesses.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been removed to the mortuary at Waterford University Hospital for an autopsy.

The driver of the car is being assessed in Cork University Hospital.

A garda statement said: “Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene and local traffic diversions remain in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information, particularly road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam recordings) from the area at the time, to contact Midleton Garda Station at 021-4621550, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
