Raw sewage ponding on the surface of a privately-built wastewater treatment facility near Whitechurch village in Cork.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been urged to immediately investigate “an active and ongoing” sewage leak from facilities built by a bust developer into a stream north of Cork City.

The material has been flowing steadily for several months from the privately-built wastewater treatment facilities near Whitechurch village, about 5km north of Cork City, into an adjoining stream, which runs south into the river Bride, a tributary of the river Lee.
