Man due in court charged in connection with Cork City stabbing

A man is set to appear before a special sitting of Cork City District Court this afternoon charged in connection with a stabbing on Wellington Road earlier this week.

The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on Friday, March 21, for an offence under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997. 

He was detained at a garda station in the city under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 before being charged. 

He is due in court at 4pm today, Saturday, March 22.

GardaĂ­ have launched an appeal for witnesses, particularly road users with dashcam footage who were in the Wellington Road and Military Hill area between 11am and 12pm on Wednesday, March 19.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Mayfield Garda Station at 021 455 8510, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
