Cork residents warned of new Revenue scam targeting personal and financial information

In a warning message published on their official website on February 11, Revenue stated: "The Revenue Commissioners never send emails or text messages requiring customers to send personal information via email, text or pop-up windows."

Cork residents have been warned of a recent scam where fraudsters are impersonating Revenue and asking for personal and financial information.

The texts come from an unknown number claiming to have information related to the recipient's tax return from the previous year. The scam states that this tax information can be accessed once the recipient provides the appropriate details.
