Regeneration of Cork's Emmet Place gets go-ahead, with 2028 delivery

Emmet Place plans to extend pedestrianisation across the whole plaza, to declutter redundant street furniture, and install new seating to create a new civic space.

Facelift plans for Cork's Emmet Place have been approved, but it will not be delivered until 2028.

City councillors were told the regeneration of the civic space, built outside Cork Opera House and the Crawford Gallery some 25 years ago, will not start until the €30m extension and revamp work currently under way at the gallery is complete.
