Watch: Man captures dash cam footage of meteor over Limerick

Eryk Miskiwcz said that he made a wish after witnessing the meteor, 'but I can’t tell you what I wished for, otherwise it will not come true'

A Limerick City café manager was left stunned following a close encounter as he recorded a meteor that streaked across the sky.

Eryk Miskiwcz, of Aroma Coffee House, was driving on the Ballysimon Rd in Limerick when the suspected meteor careered across the heavens in front of his car.

The object, which Mr Miskiwcz captured on his car’s dash camera, appeared to split into a number of pieces as it entered the Earth’s atmosphere on January 6.

“It was about 11pm, I was by myself. I saw it straight away. It was super bright in the sky, it came out of nowhere,” said Mr Miskiwcz.

It stood out in the black sky, it was super bright, it looked whitish with a hint of blue

"Before it faded it split into three separate pieces and then it disappeared.”

Mr Miskiwcz said that he “made a wish” after witnessing the meteor, “but I can’t tell you what I wished for, otherwise it will not come true”.
