A popular Limerick pub has closed its doors after almost a decade in business.
Clohessy’s Bar, located on Denmark St in the heart of Limerick City, has closed permanently.
The pub announced the news via a statement on social media, saying it would not reopen in 2025.
“We regret to announce that we will be closing permanently after Monday 30th, December 2024.
“We would like to thank all of our customers over the last 9 years in business in Limerick city,” the statement read.
The pub was formerly owned by former Munster and Ireland rugby player, Peter Clohessy.
In the last 20 years, 170 pubs have closed their doors in Limerick, according to a report published last year by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland. A total of 2,054 pubs have closed down across the country over the last two decades.
