Two women arrested after €1.28m cannabis haul seized at Shannon Airport

64kg worth of cannabis were seized

Two women have been arrested following a seizure of €1,28m worth of herbal cannabis at Shannon Airport.

Gardaí have arrested two women after Revenue officers seized 64kg worth of suspected herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €1,280,000 at Shannon Airport this Monday.

The women, aged in their 20s and 40s, are currently being detained at a Garda station in the Southern Region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages in the baggage of two female passengers’ who had disembarked a flight originating from the US, according to Revenue.

Investigations are ongoing.
