Man, 30s, dies after vehicle enters water in Cork 

The R571 remains closed for gardaí to carry out a technical examination

A man has died following a crash where a vehicle entered the water in Co Cork. 

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday morning in the Eyeries area on the R571 road. 

The driver, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The road remains closed for gardaí to carry out a technical examination. 

Diversions are currently in place and gardaí are now appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who was travelling along the R571 road in the Eyries area between 1am and 6am on Friday, October 25, 2024, including persons with dash-cam or mobile phone footage, are asked to contact the Bantry Garda Station on 027 20860, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

"Investigation is ongoing," a garda spokesperson said.
