Birdwatchers in a flap as robin from France found in West Cork

Birdwatch Ireland discovered the bird had been ringed just two weeks previously in Calais, France — a journey of more than 830km

Irish birdwatchers have been left surprised after finding a robin in West Cork which came all the way from France.

The popular garden birds normally stay just a few kilometres from where they hatch as chicks.
