A new report has found that the Mercy University Hospital's emergency department has just half the number of consultants it should have.

An inspection by Hiqa, the health watchdog, in April 2024 covered the emergency department (ED), including the acute medical assessment unit as well as St Brigid’s Ward, St Catherine’s Ward and St Francis Unit at St Mary’s Health Campus.
