'The winner really could be anywhere': Cork punter scoops €250k in EuroMillions draw
Shop owner Michael O’Murchu shared his delight in selling the special ticket, saying they've had success in the past as well.
A lucky punter in Cork is €262,554 richer after winning a EuroMillions prize on Tuesday.
The winner was one of two to win the prize, with the other player being in Dublin. The two punters matched five numbers and one lucky star.
The Rebel County winner enjoyed their windfall after purchasing their winning Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw at the Gala store & PO in Innishannon, Co. Cork.
Shop owner Michael O’Murchu shared his delight in selling the special ticket, saying they've also had success in the past.
“We have certainly been a lucky shop over the years between big Lotto wins and different prizes on scratch cards too so this is a great phone call to be receiving.”
Mr O’Murchu said the lucky winner may not necessarily be a local, as the business receives lots of “passing trade with commuters going by every day” as well as residents in the community.
He added:
“Let’s hope they check their ticket soon and realise just how much it’s worth. We wish the winner all the very best with their huge win.”
Meanwhile, the winning ticket in Dublin was purchased on August 31 at the Centra store on the Oscar Traynor Road in Coolock.
The numbers in the Tuesday, September 3, draw were 7, 9, 11, 16, 45 and Lucky Stars 2 and 5.
Elsewhere in the country, one Sligo player successfully matched five numbers in the Tuesday night draw to win €16,735.
Their winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on August 31 at Eurospar Tubbercurry on Teeling Street in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo.
