Crews working to restore full water supplies in East Cork

Uisce Éireann is working to restore supplies to customers in East Cork after a technical issue caused problems with water pressure overnight.

Crews are on site completing repairs at the Mogeely Water Treatment Plant.

The issue left homes and businesses in Castlemartyr, Mogeely, Ladysbridge, and surrounding areas with low water pressure.

It comes as East Cork basks in sunshine and some of the hottest temperatures it has seen all year, with the mercury to hit 18C in the area today.

Repairs will be completed shortly, but customers in these areas may be impacted by low water pressure for up to 48 hours to allow reservoir levels to recover, Uisce Éireann said in a statement.

Uisce Éireann’s Cormac Bergin acknowledged the impact on customers.

“On behalf of Uisce Éireann, I’d like to thank customers who are impacted for their patience, cooperation, and assistance while we work to restore normal water pressure to all customers as quickly as possible and regret any inconvenience caused."
