Three Palestine solidarity activists charged following protest at Shannon Airport
Activists from the Galway Palestine Solidarity Campaign (GSPC) said it engaged in a "direct action" to mark Land Day on Saturday morning.
Three people have been charged following a protest at Shannon Airport which saw Palestine solidarity activists attempt to block US military planes.
Activists from the Galway Palestine Solidarity Campaign (GSPC) said it engaged in a "direct action" to mark Land Day on Saturday morning.
In a statement it said that two US military planes were at Shannon Airport, with one aircraft landing at around 9:16 am on its way back from Lebanon, Cyprus and Egypt.
"The organisers, including two members of GPSC were detained by gardaí as they approached the US military planes with a flag of Palestine and a banner that said: 'US military out of Shannon'," a GPSC spokesperson said.
A garda spokesperson confirmed that two women, both aged in their 30s and a man in his 30s were arrested by gardaí for public offences.
They were detained in a Garda Station in Co Clare.
"All three have since been charged and are expected to appear at Nenagh District Court this evening at 5pm," the garda spokesperson told the
