A man, aged in his 30s, has been hospitalised following an assault in Cork.

The incident occurred around 11:44pm in the Allen's Quay area of Youghal on Friday night.

The man was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Another man, also aged in his 30s, was arrested in connection with the incident.

He remains in custody and gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
