Cork city councillors have been urged to back a major €18m housing regeneration plan designed to resolve overcrowding and chronic living conditions on one of Ireland’s worst halting sites.

The call came from the Traveller Visibility Group (TVG) in Cork following confirmation that council management has finalised plans for a new 27-unit residential scheme for the residents of the Spring Lane halting site on the city's northside.
