Gardaí are poised to launch a murder investigation today following the discovery of a man, who it’s suspected was beaten to death in his sheltered housing accommodation, in Cork.

Michael Foley, 61, who was originally from Clonakilty in West Cork, was found lying in a pool of blood, with apparent head and facial injuries, in the kitchen of his house at Annville — a sheltered housing development in the heart of Macroom at around lunchtime yesterday.
