Gardaí probe suspected petrol bomb incident in Cork City on Christmas Day

A forensics team will carry out an examination of a premises in Cork City after a suspected petrol bomb incident on Christmas Day.
Three people were hospitalised after multiple units of the Cork City Fire Brigade were alerted to a blaze at a house on Dyke Parade. Smoke was seen coming from the building shortly after 6.20pm.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were able to enter the premises, while those outside used their Aerial Ladder Platform to stop the flames from spreading.
The road was closed off while the incident was being dealt with.
Cork City Fire Brigade took to social media with an update, at around 9.30pm, saying that the fire had been dealt with.
Three people were removed from the scene to Mercy University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A fire brigade spokesperson added: "Crews worked hard in difficult conditions to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining properties"

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a fire at a residence at Dyke Parade in Cork City at approximately 6.20pm on Sunday evening, 25 December 2023.
"A man and two women were later taken to Mercy University Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The scene has been preserved and a technical examination of the scene will take place. Investigations ongoing."
Gardaí preserved the scene overnight ahead of a technical examination today.
The fire brigade added that there were four other incidents around Cork City on Christmas Day, as it thanked their colleagues in the Cork County Fire Brigade for their support.
