Heavy traffic around Cork City is causing severe disruption, with bus services in and around the city being delayed for "upwards of one hour" until at least 8pm on Friday.
On what has traditionally been one of the busiest shopping days of the year as people do some last-minute Christmas shopping, Bus Éireann blamed the widespread delays on "heavy traffic congestion throughout the network" in Cork.
All city and suburban routes are affected, and delays are likely to persist until 8pm.
Delays upwards of one hour are expected on all Cork City and Suburban services from noon until at least 8pm this evening, due to heavy traffic congestion throughout the network.

On social media, several commuters have already reported experiencing delays, on routes servicing the northside.
Bus Éireann is predicting a busy weekend and has encouraged passengers to plan their journeys in advance and check the updated timetables on its website.
Services will operate as normal on Saturday, December 23, and a Sunday timetable will be in operation on Christmas Eve and St Stephen's Day. No services will operate on Christmas Day.
From December 27, normal service will return to operation until New Year's Day, during which a Sunday schedule will be in place.
Services will resume fully the following day, Tuesday, January 2.
