All trains to and from Cobh and Midleton in Co Cork have resumed following a signalling issue at Glounthaune, Irish Rail has confirmed.

The signalling issue has now been rectified, and services have resumed with knock-on delays of up to 20 minutes.

Earlier, in a statement posted on X, Irish Rail said: "Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected to Cobh/Midleton services due to a signalling issue at Glounthaune."

According to a spokesperson from Irish Rail, the delays are due to a points fault at Glounthaune affecting both Cobh and Midleton lines.

"We are working to rectify this, and apologise to customers affected," the spokesperson said.

The 07:30 Cork/Cobh service was delayed 35 minutes at Little Island, the 07:30 Cobh/Cork service was delayed 35 minutes at Fota, and the 07:45 Midleton/Cork service was delayed 10 minutes.

Elsewhere, both the 07:45 Cork/Midleton, and the 08:00 Cork/Cobh were held at Cork for some time.
