Gardaí appeal for witnesses after 'serious' incident on train between Limerick and Tipperary

Gardaí are appealing for information following an incident that happened on board an Irish Rail service between Limerick and Tipperary on Thursday afternoon. 

The incident happened on the train that left Colbert Station at 4.50pm and arrived at Limerick Junction at about 5.20pm. 

A "serious anti-social behaviour incident", which involved a male passenger, was reported by Iarnród Éireann, a spokesperson told the Irish Examiner. 

"Gardaí are progressing their investigation, and it would be an operational matter for gardaí on details to be released," the spokesperson added. 

A Garda spokesperson said gardaí were requesting a number of passengers who had come to the assistance of the injured person, believed to be female, on board the train to contact them. 

"Anyone with information in relation to this matter that can assist gardaí with their investigation is asked to contact Tipperary Town Garda Station on 062 80670, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111," the spokesperson added.
