Man charged in relation to fatal assault in Limerick

A man has been charged in connection with a fatal assault in Limerick.

Gerard Curtin, who was aged in his 40s, died following the incident at a property in Sarsfield Avenue, Garryowen in the early hours of Saturday.

He was found unresponsive outside the house.

Ambulance personnel attended and tended to Mr Curtin but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man aged in his 40s who was arrested following the fatal incident has been charged.

He was scheduled to appear before a special sitting of Ennis District Court on Sunday evening.

Gardai have said their investigation is ongoing and they have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Sarsfield Avenue on Saturday morning between 4am and 5.15am and who may have camera footage, including CCTV and dash cam footage, is asked to make it available to investigating gardai.
