The final section of the N22 Macroom bypass will open to traffic on Monday, November 6.

Construction of the N22 Baile Bhúirne to Macroom Road Development has been underway since January 2020, with the first section of the bypass opening to traffic in December 2022.

The second section opened in August 2023.

Currently, the new N22 Road is open to traffic from Coolcour Roundabout to the east, as far as Toonlane Junction at Baile Mhic Íre.

After nearly three years of construction, the final section, connecting the Toonlane junction to the Baile Bhúirne junction is due to open on Monday.

Once the final section opens to traffic, road users will be able to travel westwards on the new N22 along its full length from Coolcour Road to the Baile Bhuirne Junction and onwards on the existing N22 to Kerry.

Travelling from Kerry, road users will merge onto the new dual carriageway to the west of Baile Bhuirne and can travel on the new N22 road to Coolcour roundabout, east of Macroom.

Road users are urged to exercise caution along the new route until people become familiar with the new junction layout.
