Several people who contacted Cork County Council’s emergency ‘out of hours’ line during recent flooding hung up within less than 60 seconds if they did not get an answer.

That is according to figures released to the Irish Examiner by the local authority, which showed the longest time a person was waiting for an answer was just four minutes.
