A man has been arrested after an armed robbery in Co Waterford.

Shortly after 4.15pm on Wednesday, an individual entered a shop on Emmett St in Dungarvan, wielding a knife.

It is believed he threatened staff and then fled the scene after taking a sum of cash.

There were no injuries reported.

Subsequently, a man aged in his 30s was arrested by gardaí responding to the incident and was detained for questioning.

A sum of cash was also recovered.

The man has since been charged and is scheduled to appear before a sitting of the District Court in Co Waterford tomorrow morning.
