In pictures and videos: Storm Babet causes flooding chaos in Cork

Torrential rain caused by Storm Babet on Wednesday has caused severe flooding across the county of Cork and beyond.
A status orange rain warning was issued for Cork overnight with a status yellow rain warning now in place for the county until 6pm. Some local Met Éireann weather stations in Cork have recorded a month's rainfall (115mm) over the last 24 hours.
The Defence Forces are being deployed to parts of Cork that have been inundated by severe flood waters.
Meanwhile, Cork County Council said that it responded to 106 incidents between 5pm on Tuesday and 9am on Wednesday, with Cork County Fire Service responding to over 30 additional calls.
Here, the has compiled a selection of photos and videos from the worst affected areas including Midleton, Glanmire and Rochestown.
In a statement, Cork City Council said the South Terrace and adjoining streets were "seriously impacted" by Wednesday morning's downpours and flooding.
Flooding was also reported in several areas of the city including:
Lavitt's Quay, Popes Quay, Wandesford Quay, St Patrick's Quay, The North Mall, Douglas Street, and Sawmill Street.

The town centre of Midleton became submerged under heavy floods, with gardaí saying the town was "impassable".
Cork County Council urged the public to completely avoid the town due to the severe flooding.
Midleton was also affected by power outages shortly after 2pm, with the ESB saying that 961 people homes and businesses were affected. Due to the severe flooding, power is not expected to be restored until 6pm at the earliest.

In Glanmire, the city council advised motorists to take extreme caution in the area due to flooding.
A number of roads are also impassable, including the R614 Whitecross at Hennessy's garage, the Sarsfieldscourt Hospital side of Buck Leary's Cross, and the Rathcooney/Bowling Road junction.
One local told the that “a number of housing estates have been badly affected.” There has been serious flooding in Coppervalley View, Meadowbrook, and Rivergrove while a number of roads have also been cut off in the area.
“Fire brigades, council crews, and Sorensen Civil Engineering Ltd, who are actually the contractors working on the flood relief works, are also helping to use pumping equipment,” he said.

Just days after securing the Cork premier senior hurling crown, Sarsfields has felt the full effects of Storm Babet.
The club's pitch committee and volunteers took the decision to allow their main pitch to flood, in the hope that it would save the surrounding community from any further damage.
