A young boy has been hospitalised after an alleged assault in Co Clare.

The alleged assault happened at a premises in Sixmilebridge on Thursday afternoon, October 5.

He was subsequently taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

"Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that occurred at a premises in Sixmilebridge, Co Clare, on Thursday afternoon, October 5, 2023," a Garda spokesperson said.

"A male child was brought to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.

"Investigations are ongoing."
