Armed gardaí were deployed to a Traveller halting site on the northside of Cork City on Thursday night after reports of an alleged public order incident.
The armed gardaí provided back-up for several uniformed units which were dispatched to mount patrols of the Spring Lane halting site in Ballyvolane.
Several units remained on scene and maintained a Garda presence in the area for almost three hours.
The last Garda unit left the site just after 11pm.
In a statement, a Garda spokesman said they received a report of a suspected public order incident at “a residential area on the Ballyvolane Road, Cork” at about 7.30pm on Thursday.
“Gardaí attended the scene and patrolled the area extensively,” he said.
“Following inquiries, there were no formal reports made to gardaí and no offences disclosed at this time.”
