Limerick council faces €6.7m shortfall in social housing rent as tenants fall into arrears

Limerick City and County Council said that of a total €17.5m rent to be collected this year it received €10.8m.

Limerick City and County Council is facing a shortfall of almost €7m in social housing rent, with a spokesperson warning that there are tenants “struggling to pay rent and meet all their other household bills”.

As the cost-of-living-crisis bites, the council has failed to collect some €6.7m in rent arrears. Some of this can also be attributed to long-term arrears.
