'The Little Miracle on Hanover Street': Penny Dinners serves up Christmas dinners despite Covid

This year at Penny Dinners on Little Hanover Street, Christmas dinners will be delivered to service users at many B&B’s and hostels. For the tenth year in a row, the River Lee Hotel donated two hundred Christmas dinners. Hotel general manager Ruairí O’Conner and his Head chef Paul Lane and staff, Oisin Collins, Jason Murray, and Philip Bunney made the special delivery to Caitriona Twomey. Picture Dan Linehan

Weary but dedicated volunteers at a soup kitchen in Cork city were on the road until 4am today delivering the last of 10,000 Christmas hampers which will help the needy get through the holiday season.

A further several thousand people will have their Christmas dinner delivered to them today courtesy of Penny Dinners and the River Lee Hotel.
