Cork man used screwdriver to stab woman in arm, court told
The man was remanded in custody until July 9.
A small screwdriver was allegedly used to stab a woman in the left arm when her ex-partner called to her home.
Judge Miriam Walsh remanded the accused man in custody until July 9 on the application of Sergeant John Dineen at Cork District Court.
The case was before an in camera hearing of the court as the parties cannot be identified as they relate to an alleged breached of a safety order under the Domestic Violence Act as well as a charge of assault causing harm.
The 49-year-old man was previously refused bail on the charges at Cork District Court. And now solicitor Frank Buttimer has confirmed that the appeal of the bail refusal at the High Court was also refused.
The case was put back until July 9 to allow time for directions to be obtained from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The allegations in the case were previously set out in court.
On Wednesday, April 8, at 10.20am, Gardaí received a report of an alleged domestic incident and they attended and met with the complainant.
She alleged that her ex-partner presented at her address demanding his bank card. She stated that she left her home to speak with him outside.
She alleged that he produced a small screwdriver with a black handle and proceeded to stab her in her left arm. She sustained a cut to her arm but did not require medical attention.
He was charged with assault causing harm and breach of the safety order.
