Two men arrested after more than €700k of cannabis and cocaine seized in Dublin
Drugs and cash seized after a garda operation in Dublin on Saturday
Gardaí have seized cocaine and cannabis with a combined value of more than €700,000 as part of an investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Dublin region.
The garda drugs unit stopped a car at 3.30pm on Saturday in Coolock. Cannabis worth €100,000 was seized and a man in his 20s arrested.
During follow-up searches at two homes in the Dublin 1 area, Gardaí seized cannabis valued at €551,000, cocaine valued at €70,000 and two sums of cash - £33,000 sterling and in excess of €4,000. A second man in his 30s was also arrested.
Both are currently held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act at a Garda station in the Dublin region.
Gardaí said the seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021.
It aims to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels — international, national, and local — involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, and local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
