MMA fighter Joshua Allen appeared back in a Cork court on Thursday on a charge of dangerous driving.

Mr Allen, 26, the eldest son of TV chef and author Rachel Allen, was charged with dangerous driving in the Ballycotton area of East Cork on October 27, 2025.

Court presenter Sergeant Majella O'Sullivan told Midleton District Court that a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

It is expected that the file will be finalised and sent to the DPP in three weeks.

Sgt O’Sullivan suggested that the case could be adjourned until May 14, when DPP directions are expected.

Defence solicitor Don Ryan consented to this date.

Mr Allen of Ballinamona, Shangarry, is charged with dangerous driving on the R629 at Monagurra on October 27, 2025.

The charge is that he drove in such a manner, considering speed and other factors as to be dangerous to himself and the public, contrary to Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961.

Sgt O’Sullivan previously told Midleton District Court that further charges were also being considered.

Mr Allen has fought successfully in Mixed Martial Arts, winning a championship in Cork. He also works as a stonemason and runs his own stonemasonry business.

His great-grandmother, Myrtle Allen, founded the now world-famous Ballymaloe hotel and restaurant.

The business has been further expanded under his grandmother Darina Allen, and his mother Rachel Allen, who are both celebrity chefs and authors. Ballymaloe also now contains a renowned cookery school, food festival and other ancillary businesses.
