Twenty-six flat screen televisions were smashed at a betting office in Cork City and 13 more screens were smashed a short time earlier at another bookmakers and now a 39-year-old man has signed pleas of guilty to causing the extensive criminal damage.

He will be sentenced at the sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on February 9.

The first charge relates to Paddy Power’s on Pembroke Street at 5pm on July 3, 2025, where 13 flat screen televisions were damaged.

The second criminal damage count relates to 5.15pm on the same date at Boylesports, Castle Street, where 26 screens were damaged.

One of the bail conditions for the accused man, Mahmoud Hussein of Northgate House, Bachelors Quay, Cork, requires him to stay out of all betting offices in Cork City or county.

Other bail conditions require him to sign on three days a week at Bridewell garda station, remain intoxicant-free and not to apply for any travel documents or passport.

The accused was represented in Cork District Court by Frank Buttimer, solicitor. Judge Catherine Ryan sent the case forward for sentencing at the circuit court, on the application of Sergeant Aisling Murphy.
