A lapdancing club was the scene of a suspected burglary as a manager at the premises flagged down passing gardaí to report a bag belonging to one of the cleaners had been stolen.
Sergeant Aisling Murphy said at Cork District Court that the alleged incident occurred at Secrets lapdancing club on Leitrim Street, Cork, on December 4, 2025.
30-year-old Curtis Keniry whose address was given as St. Patrick’s Church, Lower Glanmire Road, Cork, was allegedly identified as the person who carried out the burglary, Sgt Murphy said.
An outline of the allegations was given in court so that Judge Catherine Ryan could decide if it was a suitable case to be dealt with at district court level. Judge Ryan accepted jurisdiction.
The judge was told that there were bank cards, loyalty cards and membership cards in the wallet that was taken, as well as just over €100 in cash, at around 6pm on the day.
Sgt Murphy said all of the cards were recovered and returned to the owner. Frank Buttimer, solicitor, said the defendant was pleading guilty to the offence.
Judge Ryan adjourned sentencing so that a victim impact statement could be prepared, if the owner wished. Sentencing was put back until February 9 for that purpose.
