Judge Catherine Ryan remanded the defendant in custody until January 28.

A man accused of four counts of shoplifting applied for bail and as soon as he was refused, he said to the judge: “Alright so, would you sentence me today instead of Mickey-Mousing me around again on remand and remand and remand.”

Roy Twohig, aged 45, of Kinlay House, Shandon, Cork, continued in his address to Judge Catherine Ryan from the dock at Cork District Court: “Just deal with it please and let me get it over with today.”
