A man accused of approaching a garda patrol vehicle telling gardaí to “get the fuck out of the car” will appear in court again on February 3 by video link from prison.

Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case to Cork District Court for the purpose of fixing a date for a hearing of the case.

The alleged circumstances of the case were previously outlined by Sergeant Gearóid Davis. Garda Paraic White responded to a call to Mill Park, Mallow Road, Cork, at around 10.30pm on October 8, 2025.

“Gardaí arrived at the scene and parked their patrol car in front of a house at Mill Park. Dean Oosterloo opened the door of the property and walked aggressively towards the patrol car.

“He was repeatedly shouting in a threatening manner at the patrol car, 'Get the fuck out of the car'. Gardaí were repeatedly instructing him to drop an item he was holding in his left hand.

“Dean Oosterloo returned to the front door of his home. When Dean Oosterloo turned, gardai saw that it was a knife he was holding — he was holding the knife backwards, with the blade end of the knife being tucked up inside his sleeve.

“He turned around before he reached the door, and walked in a fast and aggressive manner towards the patrol car, he was again shouting, 'get the fuck out of the car'. As he approached the car he was pepper sprayed.

“He retreated into the house still carrying the knife… He re-emerged, shouting aggressively and ran towards gardai when pepper spray was used on him again… He was arrested for possession of the knife,” Sgt Davis alleged.

Diarmuid Kelleher, solicitor, said the defendant would be contesting this and other cases against him.
