Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in Dundalk, Co Louth.

The body of a man in his 30s was found shortly after 8am on Thursday outside a residential property at Dúiche Roden.

The Garda Technical Bureau is examining the scene, which remains sealed off.

A Garda spokesperson said: "The office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged. 

"A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Dundalk Garda Station. A Garda Family Liaison Officer is supporting the family of the deceased."

The autopsy results will help gardaí determine the next steps in the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from anyone who was in the Dúiche Roden or Demesne Road areas of Dundalk overnight.

Investigations are ongoing.
