Man charged in connection with gun seizure in Co Cork

The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on Tuesday evening after off-duty gardaí saw a vehicle acting suspiciously in the Lisanisky area of Mallow

A man who was arrested in connection with a gun seizure in Co Cork has been charged. 

He is due to appear before a special sitting of the District Court in Cork City at 2pm on Saturday.

The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on Tuesday after off-duty gardaí saw a vehicle acting suspiciously in the Lisanisky area of Mallow.

After stopping and searching the vehicle, gardaí discovered and seized three suspected firearms and ammunition, as well as a quantity of cocaine.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
