A 34-year-old man who stole €400 in coins from the storeroom of a city centre pub at 5am returned to try to burgle it again two and a half hours later to see if he could steal alcohol.

Alan O’Dwyer, barrister, said John O’Mahony, of 120 Ardcullen, Hollyhill, Cork, was under the influence of “quite a number of substances” when burgling the pub in Cork City and making a second attempt to burgle it on the same day.
