A 33-year-old man who threatened to kill a woman serving lunches at Cork Penny Dinners will be sentenced on November 25.
Flavio Andrade, of Shamrock Place, College Road, Cork, appeared before Cork Circuit Criminal Court on Tuesday on a signed a plea of guilty to making the death threat.
His barrister, Elaine Audley, applied for an extension of free legal aid for a medical report on the accused. Judge Helen Boyle acceded to that application and adjourned the case for sentencing in a month’s time.
Sergeant Gearóid Davis previously outlined the background to the incident, which occurred at about lunchtime on May 1, 2022, as Garda David O’Sullivan responded to a call to Penny Dinners on Little Hanover Street, Cork.
Garda O’Sullivan met with a woman who had been serving food at the well-known service.
“She was visibly shaken. She alleged that while serving Flavio Andrade, he became extremely aggressive, pointing his finger in her direction, stating that he was going to kill her,” Sgt. Davis said.
The sergeant said the wording of the threat was: “I’ll kill you, I can kill you anytime. I’m ex-military so I can kill you anytime.”
It is alleged he later added: “I’ll track you down. I will find where you live. And if I go to Portugal for 15 years and come back, I will still track you down. You will be no more.”
