A total jail sentence of one year was imposed on a 35-year-old man who was previously convicted of theft 79 times and has now confessed to several more offences — some of them committed in the last few weeks.

But he told the sentencing judge he would not be coming before the courts again: “That will be the end of it,” John McDonagh of 1 Inchera Close, Mahon, told Judge Mary Dorgan.
