The 54-year-old man was convicted following a trial earlier this year of attempted rape, sexual assault and threatening to kill or cause the child serious harm at the family home in Co Limerick on dates between 2011 and 2019.

The Central Criminal Court heard the man threatened to kill the girl with a knife when she confronted him about his behaviour when she was a teenager.
