A Cork woman is facing multiple charges in relation to a six-year garda fraud investigation into the purchase of overseas property.

The woman was questioned by gardaí in Portlaoise last week about a garda investigation which has been running since December 2018.

The woman, who is in her 40s, was charged “with multiple counts of alleged fraud,” according to a statement from An Garda Síochána.

It is understood the fraud relates to the purchase of property in France.

The garda statement said the woman was charged on March 11”as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged fraud concerning the purchase of overseas property and related business matters, being conducted by Gardaí in Portlaoise since December 2018”.

The woman will appear before Portlaoise district court on April 3.
