Man arrested after firearm discharged in Co Leitrim

A man has been arrested following the discharge of a firearm in Killargue, Co Leitrim, on Friday, March 7.

Leitrim gardaí responded to an emergency call at a residential property in Killargue on Friday afternoon, with the armed support unit also attending the scene.

At around 3.20pm, following an intervention by the armed support unit—including the use of a taser—the man was arrested outside the residence, and a firearm was seized.

The scene remains sealed off for a technical examination while the seized firearm is undergoing forensic and ballistic analysis.

The suspect, a man in his 30s, is currently being held at a garda station in Co Leitrim under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939/98.

Investigations are ongoing.
